Apply now for low-cost childcare pilot program

With increases in rent, transportation costs and taxes, New Yorkers need financial relief. For those who also have childcare expenses, help may soon be on the way.

Applications are now being accepted for a new pilot day care program that has already approved 80 union members for subsidies. The subsidy allows members to pay no more than 10 percent of their income for childcare.

DC 37 and the New York City Central Labor Council are part of the pilot project, which is offering eligible members the opportunity for subsidized childcare.

In order to be eligible, members must meet income eligibility requirements and live in the target zip codes: 10458, 10460, 10461, 10462, 10466, 10467 and 10469.

Members can use after-school programs or informal care arrangements, as long as they accept Agency for Child Development vouchers.

For more information and applications, DC 37 members should contact Yolanda Cruz at (212) 929-3559, ext. 384.
