Quality of Work Life
Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene Health Fair

Hundreds of employees of the Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene participated in the April 28 Health Fair organized by the agency’s joint labor-management Quality of Work Life Committee. Patricia Murray of Clerical-Administrative Employees Local 1549 combined her quest for information with her need for a checkup. “I had to get my blood pressure and cholesterol checked. Rather than taking a day off, I decided to get it done here,” she said.

Auditor Mohamed Latif, a member of Accountants, Statisticians and Actuaries Local 1407, thought the fair was informative. “It’s important to let people know how they are doing and to provide employees with helpful information about their health.”

“It’s an excellent idea,” said Public Health Nurse Deidre Darden-Vidro, a member of the United Federation of Nurses and Epidemiologists Local 436. “It’s a great opportunity to disseminate health information to the workers.”
