More pay dates set under new contract
Most DC 37 members covered by the
new economic agreement should receive the first 3 percent pay increase
and corresponding retroactive pay at the end of July and early August.
Mayoral agencies and the Health and Hospital Corp. anticipate including
the 3 percent increase in paychecks on July 30. City and HHC employees
will also receive their retroactive pay July 30.
The three-year pact (July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2005) includes a $1,000 signing
bonus, a 3 percent raise retroactive to July 1, 2003, a 2 percent raise
effective July 1, 2004. There is also a provision for a possible 1 percent
extra increase if a union-city committee can identify productivity and
other savings.
In June, most covered workers received the $1,000 bonus, which was pro-rated
for part-time employees. HHC part-time workers will get the bonus July
9.
The city will also adjust additions to gross, which include
such extra pay as longevities, differentials and uniform allowances, on
July 30. HHC will make those changes on Aug. 13.
The Off-Track Betting Corp. expects to include the 3 percent increase
and retroactive pay in paychecks in late July or early Aug. New York City
Transit plans to add the 3 percent pay on July 26 and provide the retroactive
pay on Aug. 12.
The union is pressing for the 2 percent pay increase along with
the corresponding retroactive pay to be paid as soon as possible.
The unions bargaining units must agree to exclude economic issues
from their working condition contracts in order for unit members to receive
the 2 percent hike.
