Retirees Association provides helping hand

The following letter was received by President Stuart Leibowitz of the Retirees Association of DC 37:

I have respected and admired you for very many years going back to my days in New York when I attended meetings where you spoke, and I have always much appreciated your column in the Public Employee Press. But I never imagined a day would come when I would reach out to you to assist in my personal problem.

I do not have the words to thank you enough for your responsiveness. You took charge of the situation immediately and I just learned that the medication for my breast cancer has been authorized through April 2009. After a month of nonstop calling, I had started to lose hope that I could ever have success. I am grateful to you beyond words.

Be well and keep up your good work! We need you.
