Nurses and Epidemiologists honored

Nurses and Epidemiologists Local 436 celebrate National Public Health Week and National Nurses Week at DC 37 headquarters on May 19.

Nurses and Epidemiologists Local 436 marked National Public Health Week and National Nurses Week with a celebration of their own May 19 at union headquarters.

"We wanted to make sure that the Nurses and the Epidemiologists know how much they are appreciated for the great work that they do helping New Yorkers stay healthy," said Local 436 President Judy Arroyo at the Saturday night celebration.

Public Health Nurses and Epidemiologists work in a variety of city agencies including the Dept. of Education, the Health and Hospitals Corp., the Dept. of Environmental Protection, the Dept. of Health and the Dept. for the Aging.

During the celebration, which featured a sit-down dinner and a DJ spinning dance music, the local honored DC 37 Professional Division Council Rep Stephanie Miller with a plaque for her years of service to the local. "It's important that we show appreciation to people like Stephanie who work so hard on behalf of our members," said Arroyo.

"This is one of my favorite locals to work with," said Miller.
