Convention movers and shakers

DC 37 members submitted resolutions on topics including a financial tax on Wall Street speculation (submitted by DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts and DC 37 Treasurer Maf Misbah Uddin); affordable prescription drugs (President Eddie Rodriguez, DC 37 Retirees President Stuart Leibowitz and Local 1507 President Sirra Crippen); and Internet privacy (Local 375 President Behrouz Fathi and Secretary Jon Forster); fighting privatization and supporting the Federal Jobs Act (Fathi and Local 375's Frank Thomas); and protecting early childhood programs, promoting paid parental leave, improving the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, strengthening the American Jobs Act, and the Health Family Act (Local 154).

DC 37 delegates served on committees that addressed issues critical for public employees and working families, including federal policy (Fathi and Local 1359 President Dennis Ifill), health care (Roberts and Local 1189 President Dr. Leonard Davidman), political action (Local 1219 President Shirley A. Williams and Local 299 President Jackie Rowe-Adams) and organizing (Local 1549 Executive Vice President Alma Roper and Local 374 President Cuthbert Dickenson).

Delegates also served on committees devoted to union business, including appeals (Local 1455 President Michael DeMarco), constitution (Local 957 President Walthene Primus), credentials (Local 1482 President Eileen Muller), elections (Local 508 President Peter Stein), resolutions (Local 154 President Juan Fernandez and Leibowitz), rules (DC 37 Secretary and Local 1070 President Clifford Koppelman) and sergeant-at-arms (Local 1070 Vice President Fausto Sabatino, Local 1501 President Robert Herkommer, and Local 1320 Secretary Jerry Vedovino).
