Dolan receives the Marshal England Memorial Award
Senior Assistant Director Moira Dolan of the DC 37 Research and Negotiations Dept. was honored April 19 by the Commission on the Public's Health System, which presented her with its Marshall England Memorial Public Health Award.
CPHS fights for equal access and adequate funding for quality public health care services, including the city's Health and Hospitals Corp, where over 20,000 District Council 37 members work. The group is directed by Judy Wessler, a leading health-care advocate and longtime partner of DC 37 in the struggle to protect the city's health care safety net.
Local 1549 2nd Vice President Ralph Palladino and HHC Senior Vice President LaRay Brown presented the award to Dolan. CPHS cited Dolan for "monitoring health-care funding to protect and improve services in the city's public hospital system" and for her work mobilizing members in the hospitals in the fight for health-care reform.
Dolan, a union staffer since 1990, has led union efforts for child-care access and affordability. She serves as a steering committee member of the Save Our Safety Net Campaign and negotiates contracts for major units of DC 37 members.
