EMS locals honor dozens of 2014 retirees

Members of Uniformed EMS Officers Local 3621 and Uniformed EMTs and Paramedics Local 2507 came together on Saturday night May 3 for a big retirement party and sendoff for the 37 Local 3621 members and the dozen Local 2627 members who retired this year

The party, held at DC 37 headquarters, featured a delicious buffet dinner and a musical tribute from the Fire Dept. of New York Emergency Medical Service Pipers and Drums band. All of the retirees were presented with plaques to honor their service.

"Our members deserve this," said Local 3621 President Vincent Variale. "We wanted to make sure that they knew how much they're appreciated and to wish them well in the next chapter of their lives."

"I can't tell you how proud I am of these guys," said Local 2507 President Israel Miranda. "We are going to miss them so much."

"It was such a great group of people to work with all these years," said Lt. James Bayreuther, "and a real privilege to serve the people of New York City." Lt. Bayreuther retired in March after 26 years of service and is looking forward to spending more time with his family.
