Labor and Faith activists plan work

Activists from the union's Labor, Faith and Community Coalition held a meeting at DC 37 to discuss plans for the coalition's work in the coming months.

The activists have participated in a book giveaway in the Lower East Side of Manhattan with the United Federation of Teachers, a sports expo for children in Brooklyn and helped distribute food with the City Harvest mobile markets.

The Civil Service Employees Association Region 2 is also part of the coalition. The union's leader, President Lester Crockett, emphasized the importance of members being educated about the serious issues confronting the labor movement.

"A well-educated membership makes for a strong union," said Crockett at the June 2 meeting.

Local 299 President Jackie Rowe- Adams talked about her efforts through the group Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. to decrease gun violence in New York City.
