Education Fund raises max tuition reimbursement to $700 a year

The maximum tuition reimbursement for eligible members will rise by $100 per year commencing with the fall 2005 semester.

The trustees of the District Council 37 Education Fund recently announced the increase, which will bring the maximum reimbursement to $700 per calendar year.

Eligible members can get up to $350 per term within the annual maximum of $700. All other application procedures and program guidelines will remain the same.

“We understand the importance of tuition reimbursement to our members and we are pleased to be able to increase this benefit for the members who are working to continue their education,” said Joan Reed, chair of the Education Fund’s Board of Trustees and president of Local 2054.

Last year the fund reimbursed more than 2,500 members who used this benefit to assist with tuition and other college costs. Members who would like to receive an application may call the fund’s Tuition Reimbursement Office at 212-815-1663 or -1664.
