Union backs Siegel, 8 for council
District Council 37 has endorsed Norman Siegel for Public
Advocate and eight candidates for City Council (listed below) in the primary
election on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Siegel, an attorney who is now in private practice, was executive director
of the New York Civil Liberties Union. He said that, The Public
Advocate should be the peoples advocate. I will defend the peoples
interests, encouraging hope and community self-determination.
Our Political Action Screening Committee made their recommendations
to the Executive Board, which approved them Aug. 10, said DC 37
Executive Director Lillian Roberts. We believe these candidates
best represent the interests of our members and of all New Yorkers.
