Maf Uddin honored by NAACP for
contributions to freedom and dignity

The New York branch of the NAACP honored DC 37 Treasurer Maf Misbah Uddin June 2 at its annual Freedom Fund dinner-dance.

Uddin, who is also president ofAccountants, Statisticians and Actuaries Local 1407, was cited for “efforts above and beyond the call of duty to improve the quality of life for all workers and their families.”

Branch President Annie B. Martin said the award recognized Uddin’s “many contributions to the cause of freedom and human dignity and efforts in fostering the cause of working people.”

U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel delivered the keynote address, and Municipal Hospital Employees Union Local 420 President Carmen Charles was one of the co-chairs of the event. Also honored were JeanJoseph Max Bruny, the president of Food and Commercial Workers Local 888, and John J. Torpey, the president of Steamfitters Local 638.
