On Saturday, Sept. 6, DC 37 will march in the New York City Central Labor Council Labor Day celebration and parade up Fifth Avenue. DC 37 members will assemble on West 47th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues at 11:30 a.m. For more details contact your local, look for flyers in the union lobby or check the DC 37 Web site and hotline.

The DC 37 Latino Heritage Committee will celebrate its 18th Annual Latino Heritage Month with an opening event Monday, Sept. 8, and the finale on Friday, Oct. 10. This year, Lillian Roberts will be a Grand Marshal of the 39th African American Day Parade on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. All members and their families are welcome to join the DC 37 contingent. Additional information will be available after the Labor Day Parade.

Local 768 and the union’s voter registration campaign will hold a Back to School Jam Thursday, Oct. 2, from 5:30 to 8pm. for all nonregistered members and 17-year-olds who will be 18 by Election Day, Nov. 4. For more information call the DC 37 Political Action Dept. at 212-815-1550.

The Health and Nutrition Committee is seeking activists to participate with DC 37 in the American Cancer Society’s annual “Making Strides” walkathon on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. in Central Park. The DC 37 contingent will gather at 9 a.m. at 68th Street and Fifth Avenue for a photo and pre-walk stretch. The committee will also hold a “stretch and shake” exercise session on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. at DC 37.
