Health plan transfer periods this fall

Fed up with your health-care plan?

Members can choose new coverage during the annual "reopener" period throughout November.

Municipal employees can switch plans every year.

Retirees can change plans in even-numbered years, so they can switch coverage this year during a transfer period in October.

The effective date for members who change will be the first day of their first complete pay period in January. For retirees, the effective date is Jan. 1.

To compare plans, visit the city's health benefits website at www.nyc.gov/olr. Select "Health Benefits Program" and then "Summary Program Description."

Members interested in changing plans should contact their personnel department. Retirees should call the city's Health Benefits Program at 212-513-0470.
