How the report was created

One of Lillian Roberts' first acts as DC 37 executive director was to ask local leaders and rank-file-members to come up with proposals for closing the budget gap by stamping out government waste. Ms. Roberts made her appeal at Executive Board and Delegates meetings, in discussions with union activists and in the Public Employee Press.

A union task force drafted the document, a 43-page report called "We Can Do The Work: How the City can Save over $600 Million without Cutting Services," based on the suggestions that flooded into DC 37 headquarters.
