DC 37 celebrates Latino Heritage

The Latino Heritage Committee kicked off its annual celebration of Latino Heritage Month on Sept. 20 at union headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a live performance of traditional Puerto Rican music presented by the group Los Primos. Committee Chair Carmen Flores and Vice Chair Isabel Figueroa invited everyone to their festivities for the month. After the ribbon cutting ceremony Executive Director Henry Garrido urged everyone to get to the polls on Election Day in November in support of Hillary Clinton.

SSEU Local 371 had its celebration on Sept. 23 with music provided by the Ray de la Paz Orchestra. The veteran New York salsa singer Frankie Vazquez y Los Soneros del Barrio closed the month of festivities on Sept. 30.
