Public Employee Press
Revive the U.S. labor movement After reading the review of "Death and Life of American Labor" in the Public Employee Press, I agree with the author, Professor Stanley Aronowitz, that it is about time to revive our unions. What makes me very angry is how our politicians are getting away with trying to undo what our great-grandparents, grandparents and parents did to make this country. Look what is happening to our public schools, with charter schools trying to get rid of the unions and charter owner Eva Moskowitz allowed to hire people that are not union teachers and making a salary so large it is a joke. Why should charters not pay rent if they are taking up public school space? We need all children to get a good education and have teachers who are teachers and not business people. The sad thing is that the young teachers working for charters do not realize that they will grow old and need that pension. We should be raising Cain and marching in the streets, because our children are our future and no one seems to get it. — PHYLLIS LEVY
