and UNCF offer special scholarships for people of color
District
Council 37s national union, the American Federation of State, County and
Municipal Employees, offers special scholarships in partnership with the United
Negro College Fund and Harvard Universitys Labor and Worklife Program.
The
program gives sophomores and juniors an opportunity to participate in a summer
internship program with AFSCME as a way of learning more about the labor movement.
Those who successfully complete the summer program are eligible for a scholarship
from the UNCF for the following academic year.
The long-term goal of the
program is to develop potential staff for AFSCME from among talented and motivated
students of color. The application deadline is Feb. 28, 2008. Students can apply
online at www.uncf.org
or contact UNCF toll-free at1-866-671-7237. | |
