Chinese-American group lauds Maf Misbah Uddin

The Chinese-American Association of the City of New York honored DC 37 Treasurer Maf Misbah Uddin at its annual awards ceremony.

Uddin, who is also president of Accountants, Statisticians and Actuaries Local 1407, was honored along with six other civil servants. The group held its 17th Anniversary Celebration and 2007 Recognition Awards Ceremony Nov. 30 at the Golden Ridge Restaurant in Chinatown.

Uddin received the association’s “Appreciation Award” in recognition of his work as chair of the DC 37 Asian Heritage Committee.

The association credited Uddin for bringing forth “the Asian contribution and culture to American society and especially to the entire DC 37 family.” The association credited Uddin with increasing committee membership, as well as encouraging Asian members to register to vote and participate in DC 37 political activities.

The Chinese-American Association of the City of New York advocates the rights of Chinese-Americans in the city workforce, promoting equal opportunity and supporting career development and training programs. It aims to highlight the contributions of the more than 4,000 Chinese-Americans in the city workforce.
