Local 1505 uniform giveaway

When the Dept. of Parks and Recreation reneged on its promise of new uniforms for City Parks Workers, Local 1505 stepped up and provided its members with new shirts and pants.

"These pants cost $30 each- that's an added expense for my members," said President Dilcy Benn. "Wearing a uniform has a profound effect on workers' morale and solidarity, it and enhances pride in the job they do."

City Council member Mark Levine, who heads the council's parks committee, was also on hand to explain how he helped add $5 million to the Parks budget for seasonal CPWs last year. "This year we have to ask for funding to save CPW save jobs. So I need you at the City Council budget hearings in May. Make your presence known!" he said.
