Employee Press Celebrating
DC 37’s 65th anniversary Summer fun
at Six Flags
Nearly 2,000 members, family and friends celebrated
DC 37’s 65th anniversary year Aug. 8 with a trip to the Six Flags Great Adventure
& Wild Safari amusement park in New Jersey.
Most participants boarded
a caravan of 20 buses that departed at 8 a.m. from union headquarters in Manhattan
and sites in Brooklyn and the Bronx, while others drove. They spent the day at
the safari park, the theme park and the water park, enjoyed the hair-raising rides
and gobbled up a tasty lunch at a pavilion reserved for DC 37.
The members
saved at least half the cost of the transportation, tickets and meals through
the package negotiated by the union, which contributed to keep down members’
outlays. Program Director Frances M. Curtis coordinated the outing and expressed
the union’s appreciation to the local leaders and staffers who helped make
the trip a success.
