Supervising attorney retires

After serving union members for more than 30 years, Supervising Attorney Ralph Chappell has retired.

Chappell began his career at DC 37 in 1983 as a staff attorney with Municipal Employees Legal Services. He moved to the Real Estate Unit in 1986 and became a senior attorney the following year, helping members who were buying their first home with their mortgage contracts.

"It was a great feeling to be able to help our members and their families move into their first home," Chappell said.

Chappell graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in business administration and later from George Washington University with a Juris Doctorate degree.

The Pittsburgh native grew up rooting for the Pirates and frequently went to games to watch Roberto Clemente, his favorite player. At DC 37, Chappell met his wife Helen, who worked in the Education Fund and has been retired for several years.
