EMS team honors Jo Anne Restko

The Emergency Medical Services Dragon Boat team, made up of members of Uniformed EMTs and Paramedics Local 2507, dedicated their race at the annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Queens to the memory of Lt. Jo Anne Restko. The Local 3621 member died recently when she suffered a fall while mountain climbing.

"Jo Anne was not a member of the team, but she would come to the races and support us," said Lt. John Paul Dimen, who was Restko's supervisor.

The EMS team began participating in the annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in 2013 and finished in second place in the women's category last year. This year the team did not make it to the finals in the highly competitive race. The EMS Dragon Boat team was among 213 teams that participated in the festival held on Aug. 6 at Flushing Meadows Park.

Local 2507 members Giannella Robalino, Elizabeth Flores and Christina Pirrone-Newman are team captains.
