Garrido joins Dominican parade

Executive Director Henry Garrido joined thousands of Dominican New Yorkers as they marched down Fifth Avenue on Aug. 14 at the 34th annual Dominican Day Parade. This year's parade honored the legacy of Dominican women, among them City Council member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland.

Joining Garrido during the festivities was Public Advocate Letitia James, Comptroller Scott Springer and Mayor Bill de Blasio. The grand marshal for the parade was multi Grammy-award winner Juan Luis Guerra.

"It's a real honor to represent DC 37 at the parade," said Garrido, who is of Dominican heritage and serves on the board of directors of the non-profit group that organizes the annual parade.
